That's right, apparently there was already a band in the States with the same 1D name and the record label is getting the blame for using the taken name. Biz-ummer, right?! According to the Hollywood Reporter write-up, the US band is saying that the UK band shouldn't be able to come into America without causing brand confusion -- in fact, the US band showed proof the mixup by reminding all that when the UK band hit up the Today show, producers accidentally played the other group's music. Whoops. To add another thing into this issue, the US band debuted its album in early 2011 called The Light while the UK One Direction debuted its album Up All Night in early 2012 -- so light rhymes with night?!? I don't know, but there is a lawsuit for 1-million dollars in damages on the table and you better believe that we'll let you know what happens. So be sure to subscribe. And let us know in the comments section below your opinion on the matter and if 1D had to do a name change, what do you think it should be? I'm Dana Ward and thanks again for tuning into ClevverTV.
