On the line-up for the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival is A Royal Affair, a historical drama from writer and director Nikolaj Arcel (who wrote the original Swedish adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo starring Noomi Rapace). Synopsis:
Nikolaj Arcel (screenwriter of the original version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) directs A Royal Affair from a script he also wrote with Rasmus Heisterberg, based on the novel Prinsesse af blodet. The film chronicles the scandalous love triangle between a queen (Alicia Vikander), her German doctor (Mads Mikkelsen), and the mad King of Denmark (Mikkel Følsgaard). The secret love between the Queen and her physician just might spark a revolution that will change their nation.
